Resort
Origins
An abundance of knowledge and a passion for healthy living
has come together to deliver the ultimate resort experience.
Almost two decades ago, Philip Brewer opened a health
retreat in B.C.’s Monashee Mountains with the
dream of offering a unique, life-changing experience
to his guests. Over the years, he helped thousands of
people to develop healthier lifestyles, earning him
a reputation as a leading coach and lifestyle therapist.
While Mr. Brewer was facilitating better health through
lifestyle training, Vic LeBouthillier was working in
the corporate environment, coaching executives on managing
their stress and improving their emotional intelligence.
Simultaneously, he ran Alive Publishing Group, Canada’s
largest publisher of health-related magazines, books
and online health tools. As its president and CEO, he
created the largest and most visited health Web site
in Canada, making a wealth of information on healthy
living available to the general public.
In 2003, Mr. Brewer and Mr. LeBouthillier’s paths
converged. Realizing they shared the same goal of promoting
wellness and longevity through education, they began
envisioning the ultimate health resort – one that
would combine first-class customer service with science-based
holistic health training.
When it came time to appoint a medical director, the
two men turned to one of Canada’s most respected
physicians and researchers in naturopathic medicine.
Dr. Garett Swetlikoff’s many accomplishments include
creating North America’s first online interactive
Health Quotient assessment, developing and teaching
advanced courses, and serving with the B.C. and Canadian
Naturopathic Association in a variety of positions,
currently as president of the BCNA.
Together, these three individuals have established
Alive Resort – an all-inclusive resort experience,
set in nature’s magnificence, to motivate and
educate people to become skilled stewards of their health.
